Today in class we watched an episode of True Life: I have PTSD. To get full credit for the blog you must tell me what a stressor is and list some of the stress that the veterans went through during the war. Be specific and use examples from the episode. Do not say "They got shot at, like all the time." You also, need to tell me the signs and symptoms that the veterans displayed that fit the diagnosis of PTSD. Again, be specific to the episode. Lastly, tell me how these veterans are coping with PTSD today.

A stressor is any environmental demand that creates a state of tension, requiring adaptation. In this episode of true life, we followed three men who had once been in war and all suffered PTSD because of their time spent in war. There were several different factors of stress for each man, but some in common were the paranoia of being killed and always being on the look out for what could possibly take their life each day. Other factors of stress came from the trauma of seeing a loved one or close friends killed right before their eyes during war. The signs and symptoms each man displayed differed, but in a way were also similar. Certain things such as suicide, anger, or paranoia stood out. We watched one of the men even admit to almost killing himself because he had gotten so low into depression and then another one of the men showed extreme anger of the small things, where he would not have normally gotten that angry, had he not gone to war before. Some of the "treatments" for PTSD that these guys participated in was taking drugs, drinking constantly (thinking it helped), or what actually helped.. different therapists and doctors to get them through.

A stressor is " any environmental demand that creates a state of tension, requiring adaptation".
Some examples of stressors we come across on a daily basis are stress, pressure, frustration, arguements, etc.
On the episode of True Life that we watched last class, there were three victims with the disorder of PTSD. The specific reason that these men came across this disorder is from being in the army, and fighting in war. More specific things that made these men take on PTSD are from experiencing such things as bomb explosions going off everywhere they turned, seeing friends die in front of them, sneak attacks, and constant stress of trying to survive. Having these detrimental experiences, and it causing them to have PTSD, have changed these men's lives forever. PTSD causes them to have a very short and uncontrolled temper, not being able to control what comes out of their mouth when they get frustrated or angry; along with a very severe case of depression that requires medication.

A stressor is experience that causes the body to have a need to adapt. Arthur had become close with his Captain, whom he said was like a father figure, was killed. Arthur was also involved in one of the deadliest battles of the war. Kenneth, another veteran, said that he had seen his friends died. Adam, the last veteran on the show, had killed an innocent father and son. These are all examples of traumatizing stressers. All of the men had come back with drepession and they were all treated with antidepressants. They all smoked and drank. Arthur had zero control over his emotions, Kenneth became suicidal, and Adam had serious insomnia. Arthur went to a treatment facility after his DUI was cleared up. Kenneth is trying to find a job and tryig to decide to live with his mom or his dad. Adam is trying to make a charity for veterans trying to integrate themselves into society.

A stressor is any envoirmental demand that creates a state of tension, requiring adaptation. Some of the stress that the veterans in true life went through during the war are worrying everyday about if you were going to live or not. Most soldiers became paranoid that there life would be taken, and carried that back into everyday life. Another thing that caused stress and ultimately PTSD was watching a friend or captain get killed in the war. Some signs and symptoms that the veterans displayed that fit the diagnosis of PTSD were paranoia, loss of sleep, suicide attempts, and also feeling angry or depressed all the time. Every one of the soldiers that we followed on true life were on the road to recovery. One soldier had gotten a steady job, went to a therapist, and took medication. Another soldier had gotten a DUI when he returned from the war, so he was trying to get that strained out and get a job. The last soldier was coping with PTSD by starting a foundation for veterans with PTSD.

A stressor is any environmental demand that creates a state of tension that requires adaptation. On the True Life we watched in class there were three men that were suffering from PTSD that were being followed. The main things that can cause stress are pressure, frustration, and conflict. For these men it was the conflict in war that caused them to suffer from PTSD. Since these men have returned they are now very cautious about the things they do because in their minds people are always trying to kill them. Fighting in the war has caused these men to be traumatized for life. They have had bombs dropped on them, they have been shot at, and worst of all they have lost loved ones who have become like a family member to them. The signs and symptoms for the men are a short temper, thoughts of suicide, lack of sleep, depression, and always fearful. Most men also start a habit of drinking and smoking. The personalities of these men have been completely changed. Today these men are getting treatment for their PTSD. They will go to therapy, they take medicines, and some have created organizations to help others who have suffered from this same disorder.

A stressor is an environmental demand that requires adaptation. In the video, the soldiers were stressed because of many different things such as seeing very gruesome things happen to people that they know, close contact with death, being away from their families, etc. Throughout the video, you could tell that the three men handled the stress and PTSD differently and had different symptoms of it but they were very similar. Signs and symptoms such as anger, depression, thoughts of suicide, new smoking and drinking habits., and weight gain were obvious. These soldiers are being treated by doctors and have been put on medication for their PTSD. They are slowly learning to cope with their disorder and are trying to get their lives back to normal.

The definition of a stressor is any environmental demand that creates a state of tension and require adaption to get over it.
In the episode True Life: I Have PTSD they showed the effects of PTSD in three males that had just come back from war. Even though they was not in the service for years, the little time that they did spend in battle made a great impact on their lives. When they was in war, these men had to always stay on their toes and stay known of their surroundings. They watch their best friends die and then had to carry them with them until they got back to their camp grounds. With the fear of dying, they hardly would get any sleep and when they did try to sleep, they would be woken up by nightmares. When these men were sentenced to go home, they still had trouble with getting their thoughts out of the war zone. One of the men even suffered from being suicidal. They all seemed to smoke cigarettes, drink, and take medication to help calm their nerves. When they were seen in the streets and if you did not know any better, they could give off the appearance of being drunk. They had uncontrollable emotions and the most difficult time of finding a job. The only thing that seemed to keep these men at ease was a VA treatment center or helping people with building their homes when a disaster hit them. After going through so much trouble these men are now slowly getting off the cigarettes and staying faithful to going to their treatment centers. One of the men was even working to have more VA treatment centers in the area for other returning War combats that suffer from PTSD.

A stressor is any environmental demand that creates a state of tension, requiring adaption. An example from the episode of true life that we watched in class would be how the veterans from war said that they always felt on edge, like someone was going to shoot at them or that a bomb could go off at any moment because that is what they had to deal with on a daily basis when they were on the battlefield fighting for our country. Some of their behaviors after they had returned from the battlefield were very different than before they had left to go to war. They had to deal with these stressors. Some of them drank heavily or smoked and that was a way to relax them and in a way take their mind off what they were dealing with for a little bit. Some people had behaviors that were sporadic and out of line. One guy was arrested because a police officer thought he was drunk. These individuals also deal with depression, loss of sleep, short temper, and thoughts of suicide. They can go to the VA which is a hospital for veterans and get treatment for their PTSD and PTSD like symptoms but sometimes the veterans do not feel like their treatment is helping enough. All the people in the episode said that they were just prescribed pills and then told that everything would be alright. For these individuals, this was certainly not the case because they still had some symptoms of PTSD while taking these medications. Some of the veterans will seek alternative treatment methods such as going to therapy, or going to a program where they can stay at and work with doctors to try and improve their symptoms. One man was in the process of starting an organization that would help veterans find alternative treatment methods if the pill treatment that doctors had prescribed did not work as well as they had hoped.

What a stressor is any envoirmental demand that creates a state of tension, requiring adaptation. We as humans have stress normally. It's part of being a human. Some people can go through something very traumatic which can cause PTSD. On the True Life episode we watched in class there were three men that were suffering from PTSD. There were several different factors of stress for each man, but some in common were the paranoia, lack of sleep, and the most common which was they were drinking heavily and smoking. Certain things also such as suicide, anger, and paranoia stood out. They all tried different treaments and medications but none seem to work.Because of this Adam, who is one of the soldiers is trying to make a charity for veterans trying to rejoin into society.

In the episode of True Life we watched in class, three men former soldiers were learning how to cope with their PTSD symptoms from war. These three men had pretty moderate cases of PTSD which stands for posttramatic stress disorder, this can occur after a very stressful event that can be potentially psychologically damaging. A stressor is 'any environmental demand that creates a state of tension that requires adaptation'. These men suffered very tramatic war experiences one of the men, remembers being very suicidal even while still in the war zone. He said he recalls a time when he had his gun pointed up to his chin and was ready to shoot, but another soldier and his friend stoped him. Another one of the men had to experience his commanding officer and his war "father-figure" die, and they had to carry his dead body out. The three men were all coping in different ways, two of the men had become heavy drinkers, and smokers, while the other man focused on a project that would help PTSD patients recover. However all three of these men took some kind of medication and were still experiencing PTSD symptoms.

A stressor is an event causing stress in someone’s life requiring them to adapt to a new situation. During the war, veterans suffered from the stress of constantly being in the unknown. In the episode of True Life: I have PTSD the guys had to be prepared to shoot the opponent and also watch for bombs going off against them at all times which made them have suicidal thoughts and be extremely on edge The veterans signs of having PTSD included smoking and drinking and also showing signs of being intoxicated when they really were not because of the amount of trauma they were dealing with. Now the veterans are coping with PTSD by visiting doctors and psychologists while living with family or friends and trying to get back on their feet and find jobs.

A stressor is an event or thing that causes stress in someone’s life. Soldiers have many stressors during war like being shot at, having bombs explode around them, and seeing their fellow soldiers die. One of the soldiers from the video had his father figure die during combat and he had to drag the man’s body into the truck with him and travel next to his dear friend’s dead body.
Symptoms of PTSD include severe anxiety, nightmares, insomnia, and can even make the person appear drunk like one of the soldiers in the video. All the soldiers shown in the video had anxiety and trouble sleeping. They all smoke and drank as a way to try and calm the anxiety they felt.
As ways of treatment, one soldier was attempting to start up his own treatment center using holistic methods instead of medication like the VA. Every soldier was being heavily medicated by the government in an attempt to treat PTSD. Another soldier went to a three month treatment center run by the VA to try and learn how to live a normal life.
Stress is the body's reaction to a situation that is disruptive to normal functioning and well-being. A stressor is any environmental demand that creates a state of tension, requiring adaptation. One important fact about stress is that it builds over time and does not usually flare up over one event with no precursor. PTSD itself is a disabling emotional disorder which the symptoms are anxiety, sleeplessness, and nightmares. PTSD is especially prevalent in combat veterans.
Events that make a combat veteran develop this disorder can be such as follows. Some of them had to see commanding officers mutilated my shrapnel right in front of them. They themselves also were under orders to kill anyone on sight during major battles. Another factor is having to face death on a daily basis. A marine could be on patrol and almost at any time can be struck by an IED. When a person has PTSD they usually become depressed or uncaring about their own well being and lose the desire to become a functioning member of society. The only treatment offered by the VA is to heavily medicate these people and if that doesn't work good luck then. Some the soldiers become suicidal or develop addictions like alcohol abuse and or smoking. Most of the afflicted to cope with the disorder have to go to regular therapy sessions or support groups to help get them back on the right track. Some of the PTSD victims also play video games to help alleviate stress because it simulates the environment that they were in. One of the victims Adam felt right at home during disaster cleanup because he felt like he was on patrol again. There isn't always a lot of help for these people and are sometimes swept under the rug because no one wants to deal with them, but charitable organizations are being formed to get these people the help that they need. The signs of PTSD can be violent outbursts, the inability to control emotion, depression.
Combat veterans were also shot at like all the time.

The veterans we saw in last class’s True Life episode all suffered from PTSD. They have daily struggles in their life due to stressors that resulted in PTSD. A stressor is an environmental demand that requires adaptation. Some of the stressors the veterans severed from ranged from having to kill innocent people, seeing close family and friends die, to knowing the turn of a doorknob could be the end of your life. Being in a violent environment for long periods of time resulted in the men suffering from depression, suicidal thoughts, trouble sleeping, uncontrollable emotions, and smoking or drinking habits. They were all treated with anti-depressants but at the end of the episode we saw the men getting jobs, trying to find a stable home, going to treatment facilities, and creating an organization for holistic PTSD treatments.
PTSD stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and it affects 20% of America's soldiers. It is caused by stress and is very hard to overcome. A stressor is something is anything that creates tension and requires adaptation. Basically for these soldiers, when they go into war, there are things that trigger stress and lead to PTSD. Some of the stressors include the fact that they are risking their lives and seeing other people being killed. It can be very emotional to see one of your friends killed or for someone to attack and try to kill you. Also, on top of all of this, they may have emotional stress of being away from their families for long periods of time. These soldiers have no way to express their emotions during this, therefore, the stress builds up and eventually, they have no way to cope with it, and PTSD takes over causing them to lose control of their emotions and ruining their life. PTSD usuallt starts when these soldiers get home, and back to reality. It is hard to adjust back into normal life when what you are used to people trying to kill you; you can't trust people any more. Some of the symptoms of the disorder include not be able to control your emotions and having nightmares of traumatic events that caused it in the first place. Also, many of them struggle with depression and thoughts of suicide because the stress becomes almost unbearable. Many of the VA doctros just prescribe anti-depressant drugs to help the soldiers; but that doesn't always help. You can't always be drugged up on medication to help the stress go away. You have tp face it head on. That is why one of the men created an organization so that soldiers can help each other get through and overcome PTSD. They are using other ways of treatment like counseling and support groupd where they can talk though what they have experienced and help relieve some of the stess they are experiencing.

A stressor is any environmental demand that creates a state of tension, requiring adaptation. On the MTV show “True Life” we learned about posttraumatic stress disorder. The show was based on three young men and their struggles against this vile disorder. Arthur who is a twenty five year old former soldier experienced the Battle of Fallujah for one year. Unfortunately Arthurs’ captain and somewhat of a father figured got killed during the battle. Experiencing the death of his captain, Arthur returned home from the battle which resulted in him obtaining depression. Arthur was medically charged with posttraumatic stress syndrome and the only thing the doctors could do to help him was to give him some medication. This disorder has degraded the things that once former soldier Arthur could do because his life has resulted in less stability since the death of his captain. Specifically for Arthur, PTSD has increasingly affected his personality as to where he is unable to control his feelings. Arthur is now attending a program which helps lead him to becoming his normal self again. People who have PTSD begin to become angrier, paranoid and results to drinking and smoking more often than usual to relieve their stress.

Well first of all, a stressor is something from your environment that demands adaptation. So anything that causes stress, because it is not normal. One of the stressors that one of the veterans went through was when he was walking to a cafeteria during the war, a bomb went off which killed about 15 people, and seeing that left him devastated. Another one had to deal with suicide. I cant remember what the last on went through, but when he got back home, he was heavily involved with drinking. Their symptoms for PTSD were pretty much the same as when the were in war, and when they were out. They suffered with depression, nightmares, fitting in to the norm, and understanding that most everywhere around them was safe, unlike in war, where they had to dodge bullets and bombs every second. The veterans are actually slowly getting better, through treatments, such as physical therapy, and psychological therapy, even though they know they will never fully be healed.
A stressor is an activity, event, or other stimulus that causes stress. The stress the veterans faced when they were in the war were things like seeing their friends being shot in front of them, fighting for the freedom of their country at the cost of death, and taking the lives of other people. One of the veterans even killed an innocent father and son, and that veteran will never be able to live that down, and the memory of that day will continue to play over and over in his head. Other things include not being able to see family and friends back home and worrying if they are okay or not. All of the veterans smoked and drank as a way to cope with the memories and to deal with the PTSD. It was hard for one of the guys to sleep so he got a night job, and one of the other guys almost got charged with a DUI because the PTSD caused him to act in a way that made him seem intoxicated. That same veteran, Arthur, did not have any control over his emotions, and he would get worked up over the smallest things such as how people drive on the road. It is very hard for these veterans to cope with their PTSD but almost all of them are going to clinics and places to get help to improve their conditions. They are trying to find regular jobs and live on their own so they can start their lives.

A stressor is any form of environmental demand or event in ones life that in turn causes a state of tension, or stress. This stress is coped with by adaption to the stress, thus learning how to deal with it. In the tru life we watched, we followed three war veterans who all had varying degrees of PTSD symptoms. Each man had his own set of problems but all three had enormous stress on their shoulders throughout there service. This stress was mostly from the fear of losing their life at any second. The men had also seen friends die as well as captains that resembled father figures. All three of the men had difficulty dealing with their emotions. At any second they would be in tears, or ready to smash whatever was closest to them. All of the men also smoke and drank to help relieve the enormous amounts of stress they were battling with daily. However, these things only momentarily calmed them down, and the prescription drugs didn't help them as well as they were told they would. According to each of the three mens stories and brief viewings of therapy sessions, what really seemed to help them was therapy. All three of them had been involved in some sort of therapy and found that it worked wonders for helping them cope with their stress on a daily basis.

Stressors are things that cause you to act in different ways then you normaly would. They "set you off". the men all had PTSD from being in the war. They were shot at, watching their friends die, killing people and things the normal person couldnt do. Each man displayed different symptoms. One was very close to killing himself while the other was very hostil and ready to fight at any moment and the other was very work driven because he couldnt sleep. PTSD is a very bad thing to have and all three of these men were greatly affected by it. morgan ward
In the true life episode we saw there were three veterans that all suffered from PTSD, which is post traumatic stress disorder. They all had many different issues due to stressors from being a part of the armed forces. A stressor is an environmental demand that creates a state of tension, but also requires adaption. The stressors that the veterans dealt with were either fighting and killing innocent people, watching your Sargent or best friend die, and also just being afraid for their life. Each man had signs and symptoms resulting in being a part of the war. Some of these were depression, suicide thoughts, sleep problems, paranoia, and anger emotions. These specific symptoms actually were ruining their lives. Since all of these veterans suffered with the same thing, they also coped with the problem the same way. They partook in alcohol drinking, smoking, and also anti depressant medicine. At the end of the show they veterans realized they had to get their lives back on track. One of the veterans even began developing a treatment center for veterans dealing with or diagnosed with PTSD.
